Christian Jessup
Christian Jessup is a filmmaker and critic based in Raleigh, North Carolina. With a background in film scoring, criticism, and theological analysis, his work brings a unique voice to film evaluation, often exploring the meaning of music in film, as well as evaluating the intersection of faith and cinema.
As a filmmaker, Christian interned with Hans Zimmer at his music studio, Remote Control Productions, in 2017. Since then, he has written the music for more than 25 feature-length and short films, as well as directing the award-winning 2020 documentary, The Dancin’ Bulldogs.
As a critic, Christian has maintained his film review and analysis publication, A Cloudy Picture, since 2018. Pieces on the site offer a range of expression and criticism, from film music analysis and interview transcripts to philosophical and religious movie breakdowns. He also currently serves as a juror and contributor to Arts & Faith, contributor to FilmFisher, and academy member for Vulture's Stunt Awards.
